Even after returning to the cottage he's been staying in with Aladdin and Beast, Phillip still feels as if this is all just some strange wonderful dream. He hasn't really felt like this since the moment before he arrived in this world and he really, really hopes that it's all true.
As such, he goes to look for the one person who has been fairly honest and upfront about everything to hopefully bounce things off of. He needs another perspective and he's fairly certain that Aurora has gone to her own friends to do the same.
"Aladdin? Are you here? I..." He runs a hand down his face, still feeling the muscles stretched in a pleased grin. "I need to talk about something."
Normally, Aladdin would be a little alarmed at that, but he can hear the smile when Phillip talks. Fortunately, he's not waiting long- it's barely a moment later when he opens the door to his room, and quickly gets a smile of his own.
"Heh. Looks like someone's in a good mood. What's up?"
[ One morning, as your character steps out of their home, they are greeted by an owl messenger, bearing a letter. The letter tells them that they have been selected to participate in a gift exchange, and they are to deliver a gift to Puck/Owen Burnett by the end of the month. The letter says nothing more, and once the letter is read, the owl will fly away. ]
[Delivered to Aladdin's home is of homemade potpourri and a little handmade Christmas Pixie. Last but not least, there are some Christmas cookies (some are a little misshapen but it's clear they were made with care).
And Aladdin will find a little hat (or vest) pin that looks VERY familiar.
Attached is a card inside is delicate handwriting:]
MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. ALADDIN! Look what I found! It looks just like Abu! I had to get it as soon as I saw. I made the cookies myself with some help! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Again, Merry Christmas!
[Unlike the gift he gets for Jasmine, Aladdin's gift is far less, erm...him. That is to say, it's safe for all parties involved and not in that way, dur hur. Delivered right next to the one that was intended for Jasmine, it's a neatly wrapped box that's pretty unassuming for the most part, but of course Katsuki never, ever does anything in halves. Inside are several items, the simplest one being a cookbook that focuses mostly on Persian dishes - the little taste of home was perhaps the best part of Vaeros' shitty party, and even if it was bewitched, it was nice to have those nostalgic flavors again. Katsuki assumed Aladdin would feel the same way, and can try to recrate them as best he can.
Next to that is a clear baggy with coffee beans inside, tied tied with a colorful ribbon. Why coffee? Well, it's pretty simple - because Katsuki also got Aladdin a Turkish coffee pot. Yes, Turkey isn't Persia, but listen...it's the closest he could get. Finally, instead of the usual chocolate truffles and cookies he baked for everyone else, Aladdin and Jasmine get something special, something unique...that would probably pair exceptionally well with some well brewed coffee. It's halva - one of the recipes inside the cookbook. Katsuki decided to make it for them, since it's a pretty popular sweet in most of the middle east. He's included cocoa swirls and pistachios, trying to be as authentic as possible.
Needless to say, it's utterly flawless, and tastes like heaven. Hopefully the two will enjoy it together, or share amongst their households, if they desire. That's all up to them, really. There's no elaborate card, or letter, or anything. Just a gift tag with Aladdin's name on it and Katsuki's signature on the 'from' tab.]
[On the night of Christmas Eve, Beast will probably be acting strange to Aladdin. Jasmine won't know how; all she did was ask him to urge her fiancé over to Somnius' big Crystal an hour or two after sunset.
It is evident even before he gets there that the Crystal is being illuminated by something; close up, it's revealed that several candles purchased from Ari's business are carefully placed all around it, positioned in just the right spots to achieve the best glowing effect on the faces. Some were even propped on parts of the nearby windmill (safely, of course) to achieve this.
And seated nearby is Jasmine herself, dressed snugly in a new coat admiring her handiwork.]
[Well, unfortunately, Beast is nobody's idea of sneaky or subtle. The good news is that Aladdin is perfectly happy to play along. And, since he even has an idea of who put Beast up to this, Aladdin even opts to bring Jasmine's present with him when he goes to the crystal that evening. And sure enough...]
[Delivered to Aladdin's door by a giant owl is a box. Should he open it there it is filled with goodies to help survive the winter. There are two candles, one made of beeswax, bright and yellow, another is scented with cinnamon, orange, and pine. Next to the honey wand is a whole jar of honey that came from Aurora's bees, much like the beeswax honey. But it's not just honey and nuts, there is a sweet treat as well. Raspberry tarts are wrapped up safely to ensure they do not crumble.
But as this is Aladdin, her friend and her employee, wrapped up in silk is an additional item. A very fine outfit.
In the box is a letter with elegant handwriting:]
Warmest and Joyous Yule Greetings to you, Aladdin. In addition to the goodies to help through the winter, I included something. I was assured that this was similar to the attire from your and Jasmine's home, I hope that is true. We've had several conversations about how you see yourself. I see you as a man of heart, quality, and kindness, inside and out. Also, I am sure Jasmine would love to tell you what she thinks of the outfit, perhaps on a night where it's just the two of you, after some dinner. Just let me know when you need the night, or nights, off. All my love. Your friend, Aurora
[ It was only by chance that Willow learned that Beast and Aladdin lived together. In the morning if they step outside, they will find a dried flower wreath hanging on the door, delivered by the mail mice. Attached to the wreath is a tag. ]
[As agreed in their conversation on Sleepr, Jasmine is waiting for Aladdin in the astronomy tower. It's daytime, so no stars to gaze upon, but she's taking advantage of the lovely view of Lake Omen when he comes in.
As soon as she hears him, she turns her head with a hint of concern lining her brow.] Aladdin. You, wanted to talk?
[Aladdin waits patiently for Mozenrath to eat, though he's definitely giving him an increasingly confused look.]
Boy, you really don't trust people, huh?
[He isn't sure if taking his own bread out and eating it will put the guy at ease at all.
Well, it can't hurt, right? How scary can he be if he's sitting down? So he hops down onto the ground, cross-legged, and pulls out a second nearly-identical hunk of bread- taking a big chomp out of it without a care in the world. Perfectly safe! Really!]
Can you talk?
[Mouth full of food! Charming stuff. He doesn't sound like he's mocking the other kid, though, he sounds like he's genuinely concerned- the guy hasn't said a word so far.]
[ His answer took a minute, and was barely audible, a mumble and almost not a word at all.
He's not supposed to.
The boy keeps an eye on him while he very slowly and methodically takes pieces from his bread for a minute or two. At last he seems satisfied that the stranger is preoccupied with his own food, and no one else has appeared. So he dives at least into his own. He's probably eating too fast. ]
okay, look, he's not used to compliments from most people he meets, okay? It throws him a little, especially as she suddenly leans into him and holds his hand tighter.
... focus. Focus. Tiger. A tiger that's now trying to climb up to them. And-]
Wait, you know the tiger?
[Behind him, Abu slaps his hand over his own face and drags it downward in exasperation.]
[Rajah pauses his movement and gives Aladdin the most indignant pout.]
Yes, Rajah's my loyal protector!
[That prompts the tiger to stick his chest out proudly before continuing to clamber up. Jasmine is otherwise oblivious to his struggle as she finally makes note of Abu.]
Oh, you have a monkey looking out for you! How cute!
[At the mention of stealing bananas, Abu makes a grumbling growl through a mouthful of bread and covetously clutches his food closer to him.]
It's okay! She's not gonna take your food, she didn't even take the food I tried to give her.
[Abu seems less than impressed by this reassurance, but Aladdin considers the issue resolved.]
I wish more people were as nice as you. Back home, most people just chase me and throw stuff at me when I try to take their food. Some of 'em do worse.
[He sighs sadly, frowning down at his bread.]
I guess I'd be pretty mad if some kid tried to take my food too.
Not that I wouldn't wrestle you for food if I needed to, but you'd have fair warning, bud.
And hey, we've all had to, uh, borrow some food now and again. And tell you what, kid - if you ever need a meal, you just come and find me. No need to steal.
[It is very, very foolish, but also Katsuki understands where Aladdin is coming from. It's the same reason he's going with the guy, on top of making sure he's safe and not about to get mowed down by a dragon that's twice the size of the adults that came back to help them rescue the Moon that one time. There is no way he's letting the guy go alone on this one, and he scoffs when he's called out for it.]
Kiss my ass. [He puts a little more speed into his gait, huffing.] First of all, it's my job to make sure all of you comes crawling home - and second, I'm not going to be the one to tell your fiancé, my neesan, that her groom-to-be isn't going to make their wedding.
...Which, if you do end up getting hurt and missing, I will beat you so close to fucking death only to hand you to Jasmine so she can KILL YOU herself.
Aladdin! Aladdin, I have wonderful news! [Aurora is panting and rushing wind surrounds the sound of her voice. She's clearly on the move.] They found her! My animals! They have spotted Webby! I'm going after her! I'm going to bring her home!
I won't be able to respond in case she hears me coming. I will call you again when I have her. I was in such a rush but I should have asked to borrow carpet. [She's still running but clearly, she's managing.]
[Jasmine doesn't know how long she was stuck in the future - a horrifying future, where every native of that timeline was not to be trusted. She witnessed friends, family, even herself living a deceived happiness absent of free will, and she was terrified her and the others stranded would suffer the same fate.
Then they managed the impossible: They retrieved all of the crystal shards. Just as Myrta promised, putting the crystal together undid everything, and within a flash, everything is finally back to normal.
Or so it seems.
Her first instinct isn't to go back home, to Princess Cottage - it's to go next door. Even then, she stops when she reaches the door. Where was Aladdin while she was stuck in a future of nightmares? Was it something even worse? Will it have... changed him?
No, she must see him, no matter what happened. So with a swallow, she raises her fist and knocks.]
[As soon as he's back in the present, he's already rushing home. He hasn't been there much for the past few weeks, but that's all over now. He has to find-]
Jasmine?
[...Okay, he wasn't expecting her to be at his front door. Actually he's kind of self-conscious, puffing and out of breath from hurrying home on foot- he didn't know where Carpet was, but he assumed Carpet would go find Aurora and Webby still.
But it means he has to lean against the cottage a little bit as he talks.]
Action 9/7; after his meeting with Aurora
