[The bed seems off somehow. It's dark, but somehow the feel of it is off.

His hand stretches out and brushes against something furry. Abu must have fallen asleep on his bed again. He quickly pulls his hand back to avoid waking him, then pushes himself up off the bed. This is definitely not his bed.

He tries to crawl out of the bed... and his hand hits warm fur. A lot of it. Attached to something... big.

Very, very big.

So, he, being the stalwart hero he is, does what any brave, calm, resolute hero does. He yelps and jumps out of that bed like it was on fire.]

[Action]

[Later in the day, Aladdin can be found wandering around the village, staring in awe at everything he finds and generally looking as much like a new feather as one possibly can. Feel free to chat, or if you're feeling more malicious, feel free to test your deviousness.

Alternatively, there is a certain tiny thieving monkey running around, and Aladdin hasn't been united with him juuuuust yet. He may or may not grab anything shiny.]

[Abu is fast, but he's not half-Saiyan fast. Just before he can reach the shelter beneath a shelf, he's stopped short by the hand on his tail, fingers scrabbling mere inches from the shelf before he turns back toward Bulla and grins sheepishly.

Aladdin wastes little time in catching up with them.

"... I'm sorry. He knows he's not supposed to take things he doesn't need."

Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you.

[Bulla holds out her hand for Abu to return her stolen necklace with a little sigh. She may be moved by cute, but she's not foolish enough to let him go until she has her necklace back.]

Lucky for him, he's a cute little brat. He should be careful about who he steals from, though. Not everyone's going to let that slide...and it's kind of pointless to steal here anyway.

"Yeah, I heard. No money. And he won't be stealing anything-"

[He snatches the necklace from Abu's hands and hands it to Bulla, the monkey helpless to react beyond squeaking in protest.]

"-while I'm around."

[Bulla has to chuckle a little as she takes her necklace back. She's not sure what Abu would have even done with her necklace - he's so small that it wouldn't have fit him.]

Well, that's good to know. My name is Bulla, by the way. Did you two just get here?

"Uh, yeah. Woke up this morning in a stranger's house. Not the best wake-up call."

[He chuckles.]

"Aladdin. And the monkey is Abu."

[Wait, she probably already guessed that. Oops.]

"... Can I ask a stupid question?"

Oh wow, awkward.

[Bulla winces sympathetically. It's bad enough that people wake up in clothing that isn't their own.]

Sure, go ahead.

"Were you flying before?"

[He sounds sort of matter-of-fact about it. He's seen plenty of things that can fly, but most of them weren't human, and Bulla looks human.]

"How did you do that?"

Oh, that. It's a martial arts technique from my world. It uses ki - natural life force energy in the body.

[She should probably tell him about some of the other abilities he might encounter around here, although he's keeping an open mind about it. That's good.]

"Ki?"

[Life force energy? That you could- but that sounded like...]

"Is that like magic?"

Um...sort of but not really. Every living being has at least a little tiny bit of ki. Martial artists who push themselves to their limits have way more than normal people.

[She tries to think of what else she can give as an example.]

Have you ever heard of warriors that can make themselves handle pain better through meditation?

[He's never really talked to a lot of warriors, since he never considered himself a warrior. But he thinks about it. It sounds like something he's seen before. In fact, the fakirs who sat on nail beds in the marketplace said something similar.]

"I've heard something like that, yeah."

That's one way of using ki, only the people using it aren't really aware that it's what they're tapping into. If you know what you're doing with it, you can do a whole lot more...and it grows with training and practice.

[She pauses.]

Of course, some people just have powers. The Malnosso are able to pull people from all over - even different worlds.

"Training and practice?"

[That almost sounded like a challenge- but one for another day. Right now he's still in exciting-new-discovery mode.]

"So can a lot of people around here do stuff like that? So far I've just talked to the people whose house I woke up in- an ordinary girl and a big furry guy with horns."

Well, there are people with all different kinds of abilities. Some have superhuman strength or speed, or can use magic...

[Just to name a few. Those are the ones that come to mind off the top of her head.]

How did they take having a stranger in their house?

[He nodded. This was exciting stuff. Before now, the only person he knew with special powers who hadn't been trying to kill him was Genie.]

"Well, the big guy didn't seem too happy about it, but his friend was a lot more understanding, and she calmed him down."

Well, that's good. Most people who have been here for at least a few weeks know that new arrivals don't get a choice where they wake up, but finding a stranger in your bed would startle just about anyone.

[He's kind of lucky he didn't wake up in her father's bed, all things considered.]

So, any questions about this place so far, Aladdin?

"Well, for starters... what do people do for fun around here?"

[Because as exciting as learning about all the other worlds seemed, there had to be more to do than that.]

Some people start clubs or organize social events. I started Fashion Club with my friend Quinn, and I know there's one for people who like doing art, too.

[She pauses. All of those things would be difficult to find out about without the journal.]

Did you get a little book when you arrived here?

"Yeah. I sort of..."

[Given the circumstances, he's actually kind of embarrassed to admit this.]

"I sort of hid it. So nobody would... steal... it."

[Bulla considers that. It's odd, but she supposes there are some rare circumstances where that would be something to worry about.]

Well, I guess if someone was a jerk who had a grudge against you, they could try to use it to make you look bad...but they'd have to be able to copy your handwriting or your voice pretty accurately to fool people.
